Direct rainfall into Lake Okeechobee caused a slight rise in the lake level the week of May 12-18, but the level has since receded.

According to the South Florida Water Management District update released May 21, the Big O received 84,570 acre feet in direct rainfall between May 12 and May 18. The lake rose 0.12 feet during that period.

Surface water inflows were 8,720 acre feet. Flows west to the Caloosahatchee were 3,440 acre feet. On the east side of the lake, water was backflowing from the St. Lucie basin into the lake. Backflow through the Port Mayaca Lock added 1,770 acre feet of water to the lake.
